5.0 Rich, smooth and delicious

by Charlie from Austin, Tx on May 6, 2009

I have a coffee maker that grinds the beans and then makes the coffee. The kitchen smells divine while the beans are ground and the coffee is dripping. The coffee is rich, smooth and delicious. All of my family members and guests are impressed with this coffee. There is no need to go out for gourmet coffee when I can make it at home.

5.0 The absoltely best coffee HANDS DOWN!

by Dawn from Fort Lauderdale, Fl on May 6, 2009

This is the smoothest coffee I have ever tasted the flavor is so good it doesn't need any sugar or creamer (even though that is how I normally take my coffee). I was fortunate enough to tour the plantation on my Honeymoon but I had already fallen in love with the coffee as my sister had brought some home a couple of years earlier. I drink coffee several times a day and I am very picky when it comes to taste. I only use purified water and the best coffee, this is my favorite coffee EVER!. This coffee is better than pure Kona coffee. It is grown in similar conditions but at a fraction of the cost it is truly the best value and the best coffee.

5.0 Pour me a cup of Poas

by Don Fico from Tallahassee, Fl on May 6, 2009

Just the fragrance of Poas "volcanic earth" transports one to the mountain's fecund slopes. Just the patina of the roasted beans evokes images of the loamy earth. A sip of Cafe Britt's "Poas" transports one's senses to Costa Rica's highlands. It's the "taste of Tuanis!"

4.0 Outstanding - Among the best

by Monsieur Edi from Montréal, Canada on Feb 22, 2009

This coffee is among the best I've tried. I've been drinking espresso (I only drink it that way) for 30 years way before it was a trend. I find most of the espressos in restaurants and hotels mostly awful, dishonest at best except in a few places of mine. I've owned 3 espresso machines for 20 years (the latest being a comercial one - Rancilio). This coffee compares well with other excellent coffee like Yemen mocha mattari, Kenia AA and Sumatra Mandheling and is even better than some Blue Mountain I've tried. I strongly recommend it.

Product Detail

Misty ecosystems and fertile soil. Altitude and legend. The conditions that produce our Poas Volcanic Earth coffee have been nurtured over the millennia on the slopes of Costa Rica’s most-visited active volcano. This is the choice of connoisseurs. The changeable, volcanic climate produces a complex coffee with surprising taste subtleties.

Roasted dark, our Poas has an enticing aroma and sweetness when hot. As it cools, hints of earth and lemon emerge. Each sip produces the same exhilaration as a lucky glimpse of the volcano’s deep-blue crater lake.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.

Coffee Connoisseur

The aroma arouses your senses even before the cup touches your lips. Your journey has begun to the edge of Costa Rica’s active Poas Volcano. Nature’s volatility — which played a key role in creating this lushly fertile landscape — also helped give birth to the exceptional coffee of this Central Highlands region.

While steam rises from your cup, reminiscent of the active crater, pay homage to the smoking mountain that for millennia has spilled precious minerals into the surrounding land creating extraordinarily fruitful soil. Your palate is not dreaming. A touch of the smoky, volcanic soil has imparted its flavor into the coffee beans and is deliciously juxtaposed alongside fruity flavors and a bit of bright lime.

Unlike the unpredictable mountain climate that produces these select beans, the Café Britt Poas Volcanic Earth will consistently provide a complex, aromatic cup.
