5.0 Tarrazu Coffee

by David M Wagner from Cottage Grove, Oregon on Dec 5, 2011

I was exiting Costa Rica for the first time and had used my available cash to pay the exit fee, and had successfully made it through the check points and had some time to spare, so I went into the book store to look for a memory book from Costa Rica. A very congenial young man asked me if I would like to try some coffee from Costa Rica? I decided to give it a try and followed him through several tastes with no positive response; until, until I tried the Tarrazu and there was no question that the smell and taste of that beverage was exceptional. Then I found out that if I bought a certain amount, shipping would be free to my house! So, I had to take out my credit card and add to the trip expenses! And, It almost beat me home! Tarrazu is now the most favorite portion of my mornings and was truly a high light of my adventures in Costa Rica! Thank you to all who have made such a pleasant luxury beverage!

5.0 Excellent Coffee!

by Margaret from Albuquerque on Nov 27, 2011

When I was in Costa Rica I had the pleasure of drinking this coffee and what a delicious mouth of pleasure I had! Purchased 4 bags of this coffee and drank it daily. Glad I found Cafe Britt now I can go back to a smooth morning, afternoon, and dessert drink.

4.0 Wish the green beans were still being sold

by R. Paul from Eastern Long Island on Oct 27, 2011

We used to get the green beans which kept better, cost a little less and could be roasted more to our liking; but have had to make do with the roasted ones for some time now.

4.0 A little treat to start the day

by R. Paul from Eastern Long Island on Oct 27, 2011

Used to enjoy the coffee in southern Germany and Austria. The closest we can make in the States is Tarrazu Montecielo which we finely grind and brew individual cups through a Melitta paper filter. The characteristics of the water and milk used can have a significant impact on the taste of the finished product. Sure wish we could buy Bärenmarke-Milch here in the states. Enjoy it while you can. With the declining value of the US dollar it's starting to get pretty expensive.

Product Detail

From rocky ground

Experience Tarrazu Montecielo, a blend for the coffee connoisseurs with a penchant for perfection. Grown in the rich volcanic soils of Costa Rica’s famed Tarrazu region, these choice Arabica coffee cherries are ripened evenly at 1,400 to 1,600 meters, hand-picked, sun dried and dark roasted for a unique taste. Café Britt Tarrazu will surprise you with a flavor that hints of cacao and grapefruit and an aroma of aged wood and dark chocolate. Its intensity fills the palate, then fades cheerfully.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.

Coffee Connoisseur

The beans from Tarrazu mature slowly, learning patience from their infancy. Sheltered by the Pacific mountain range, these sought-after beans share their sanctuary with colorful birds and enchanted forests.

Small towns and villages, each named for a patron saint, speckle this high-mountain region. Generations of farmers known for intense dedication to their craft have grown these particularly hard beans on small plantations nestled in valleys and perched on mountain slopes. The beans ripen slowly; requiring coffee pickers to visit each tree three to four times, plucking only the ripest beans, which are then dried under the Costa Rican sun. Café Britt works directly with family farmers to continue the nurturing process of these special beans. From the plantation to your cup, this coffee is patiently cared for with integrity each step of the way. The result is a strong coffee that fills your palate with unparalleled aroma, excellent body, and acidity reminiscent of sweet grapefruit.

Take your time... enjoy every sip.
