5.0 "Espresso that's not too bitter"

by Ghennipher from Salt Lake City, Ut on Jun 26, 2008

I love a strong coffee, but some dark roasts end up being too heavy, bitter and almost syrupy if I brew them strong. What I love about this particular espresso roast is that it's balanced and dark, not too bitter or syrupy at all. I think it's a wonderful alternative to other dark roasts. I buy the beans whole, grind them coarsely and prepare the brew in a french press. It's smooth enough that it's my daily after-dinner coffee. The only thing that's not so great about it is how strong the aroma can be when brewed in a french press. To me it's a little much, but that may have more to do with the method of preparation and not the actual roast. Overall, I love this espresso roast.

5.0 It only gets better

by Jean The Java Queen from Brooksville Fl on Jan 21, 2008

So many great Cafe Britt coffees...how to choose just one? I've been buying Cafe Britt coffees by the case for several years since we discovered it while on a cruise that stopped in Costa Rica. It has been a difficult decision, but I've finally started ordering Costa Rica Espresso almost exclusively (along with my Tres Rios) because it makes such rich tasting lattes. I am addicted and cannot start my day without one. I order only the whole beans which I coarsely grind each a.m. when I make the latte using a French Press and a miniature milk frother. I take these with me where ever I go so I always have my morning latte no matter where I am. I didn't think it could get any better, but with my last order you included a free Gourmet Hot Cocoa mix. I added some of that to my coarse ground Espresso beans and voila!...a mocha latte! Not for everyday, but so wonderful on an occasional afternoon for relazing. Thank you. By the way I loved the letter from the president and I'm proud to say that I always "surprise" my fresh ground beans with hot water in a French Press!

5.0 Smooth and Rich, but Not Bitter

by Stuwalters from Atlanta, Georgia on Jan 7, 2008

We use these espresso beans in a super-automatic machine, which grinds the beans and immediately serves espresso. The beans grind smoothly, and provide a rich, dark coffee, without the bitterness of some espresso roasts. The espresso arrives with a thick crema and tastes smooth, with or without milk or cream. Highly enjoyable! Just thinking about it makes me want another cup right now...

Coffee Connoisseur

Many people mistakenly believe that espresso is a particular variety of coffee. Espresso results from the process of roasting and brewing.

The best espresso comes from high-quality, well-roasted beans, finely ground and pressure-brewed in an espresso machine.  Properly brewed, the “small shot” is crowned with a layer of rich, dark-golden cream or crema.

The Café Britt Costa Rica Espresso blend begins with the finest beans from Costa Rica’s Central Valley.  We dark roast the beans until their natural oils and sugar rise to the surface.  The result is an espresso with a fruity flavor that hints of apple and wild flowers.

Creating the perfect espresso is both an art and a science.  We have used our expertise to provide you with the best ingredient.  The brew is up to you.
